The Association of Performing Arts Collections UK would like to welcome all students and academics to a special social event hosted at National Theatre Archive. The event is a chance for you to learn more about APAC as a student or academic in addition to gaining an exclusive look into one of our APAC member archive collections: National Theatre.

Introduction to the NT Archive by Erin Lee (Head of Archive, National Theatre)

The National Theatre’s Archive holds all the organisation’s creative, technical, and business records. It covers the movement to found the theatre and documents every production from opening night in 1963 right up to the present day. From props to prompt scripts, photographs to recordings – the Archive holds a treasure trove of material relating to theatre and performance.

Black Plays Archive introduction by Riana Simons, Black Plays Archive Coordinator

The Black Plays Archive is an online catalogue of the first professional theatre production in the UK of plays written by African, Caribbean, and Black British playwrights. It includes a searchable database and essays from prominent Black British writers and academics.

The APAC social will be followed by drinks and networking at Vaulty Towers located at 34 Lower Marsh, London, Greater London, SE1 7RG (approx. 4-minute walk from National Theatre Archive).

 

This event is free to all students and academic members of APAC. If you are not a member of APAC, the event is charged at £5 and if you would like to join APAC, you will also be given a 50% discount code which can be redeemed, after your attendance has been register at the event, against the current cycle of the APAC student and academic membership.
